Dr. June C. Carroll holds the Sydney G. Frankfort Chair in Family Medicine and is a Professor and Clinician Scientist in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at University of Toronto. She practices family medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.
Dr. Carroll’s research focus is the development and evaluation of resources and practice tools to enable primary care providers and their patients to make appropriate use of genomics.
She is the Co-Founding Director of Genetics Education Canada – Knowledge Organization (GEC-KO www.geneticseducation.ca ), the mandate of which is to enhance the genomics literacy of healthcare providers across Canada through the development, collection, dissemination and evaluation of educational materials on genomics.
GEC-KO is the first concerted effort in Canada to build genomics competencies in primary care, specialty medicine, and other health professions.
